Can I trust a treatment center that is not accredited?
Being accredited is not the end-all of evaluating whether or not a rehab center provides quality care. It is certainly a good indication of the services and level of care they may be able to provide, however, some unaccredited facilities are better rated than the ones that have been accredited and vice versa. For the Joint Commission and CARF, a treatment center has to elect to have one of their representatives come out and evaluate their services before they can receive accreditation. It is entirely voluntary on the facility’s part. It is just one of many different indicators that a facility is providing access to quality care, but further research should always be done when seeking help for alcohol addiction or drug addiction.
What other factors should I look at when trying to find a rehab?
Reaching out for help with addiction is already difficult, so finding a rehab facility shouldn’t add more stress to this process. There are many different factors that should be considered when seeking help. Though it is helpful if a facility is accredited by organizations like the Joint Commission or CARF, you should also look at the reviews that have been left of Google or Yelp, see if anyone has posted pictures of the facility, and see if they offer free initial consultations. Visiting the facility and seeing other clients, staff members, and what the facility looks like in person can be extremely helpful. Also, take into consideration whether they employ professionals that have experience treating your specific substance use or other behavioral healthcare conditions.
What are some of the services offered at drug rehabs in Huntsville?
Services offered depend entirely on the facility and what they are equipped to handle. If a facility provides treatment for opioid use disorders, there is a good chance that they will have the ability to use medication as a form of addressing withdrawal symptoms or cravings. Most places, regardless of the level of care offered, will provide individual and group therapies that use cognitive behavioral therapies to address negative behaviors and thoughts. A good facility that offers comprehensive programs will also have some form of holistic treatments to offer such as exercise, yoga, meditation, experiential therapies, or acupuncture.
