Mobile Addiction Recovery Support

  • What is the average length of stay for a drug rehab patient?

Time spent in a rehabilitation center depends on the program that a client is participating in as well as their need for longer or shorter treatment times. In general, detoxification services can last up to 10 days. Inpatient treatment programs often run on a 30-day, 60-day, or 90-day schedule, however, there are some residential programs that allow clients to stay for up to a year or more. Outpatient services can be ongoing forms of care that last however long the client needs. These treatment lengths will be determined by the client and their treatment team based on progression through the program, cost, and ability to decrease the intensity of care as a person moves further through their recovery journey.

What are the benefits of drug rehab?

When it comes to alcohol or drug addiction, seeking professional help is always the safest and most effective form of treatment. Not only can they provide medical detox services and supervision, but working with trained professionals in a drug rehab center can minimize the discomfort of this whole process. Most rehab centers treat more than just the symptoms of the addiction, thus enabling clients to heal as a whole and have a better chance of remaining sober longer. Drug rehabs also often combine types of treatment, such as using motivational enhancement therapy, yoga, group relapse prevention therapy, and individual CBT to address all factors of the client that need to be treated.

How do I know if MAT is right for me?

Medication-assisted treatments are beneficial in some cases, but they may not be a necessary course of action for all clients seeking help. MAT is typically utilized when a person is suffering from withdrawal symptoms, pain, or cravings for opioids. This includes heroin, prescription pain killers, fentanyl, or any other synthetic opiates. Medications such as Vivitrol can also be used to help individuals in alcohol rehab. Other medications that may be prescribed are buprenorphine, Suboxone, or Subutex. Not only can these minimize withdrawal symptoms and help a client kickstart their recovery process, but they are also effective in preventing relapses. Though MAT can be helpful, it is not for everyone, and it is best to discuss this with your doctor or treatment team to ensure that it is the right treatment for you.

What should I look for in an effective rehab program?

Rehab programs will differ between treatment facilities and even between individual clients in the same program. A good program will customize its services to the individual client which is why no two plans will look 100% the same. The best programs should combine evidence-based therapies with holistic or supplemental services so as to address the client as a whole and treat all aspects of their life. This could look like individual therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, behavior modification, adventure activities, and art therapy all in one program. You can also look to see if a treatment center has any accreditations, such as from the Joint Commission or CARF, and reading Google reviews is often a good way to get inside information about the programs offered at a particular facility.
