As a community organization, Black Alcohol and Drug Service Information Center (BASIC) provides culturally sensitive services to individuals in the St. Louis area who are seeking help for chemical dependency issues. Treatment programs revolve around evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, 12-step facilitation, and cultural-specific trauma therapies. Combining these therapies with other recovery services allows each person the chance to recover in a safe, healing environment surrounded by their peers and clinicians.

Behavioral healthcare through COMTREA at the Festus location combines community education, mental health services, psychiatric care, and substance abuse treatment into each comprehensive program. Specific services include family programs, community education, supportive parent groups, various outreach services, crisis response, evidence-based therapies, recovery coaching, medication management, and more. Services are hand-picked to match the specific client, so no two programs will look exactly the same. Clients are required to schedule an appointment in order to be seen at this current time. Lakeside Behavioral Health works with men and women who need addiction treatment that is individualized, comprehensive, and coordinated. Treatment services available through Lakeside Behavioral Health include crisis interventions, various assessments and evaluations, medication management, transcranial magnetic stimulation, group therapy, individual therapy, life skill development, medication assistance, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, assertive community treatment, psychosocial rehabilitation, and support groups. Westend Clinic is a medication-assisted treatment facility that offers Vivitrol, Suboxone, and other medications that help reduce symptoms of withdrawal that may be preventing a person from continuing through with their rehab program. Clients will be able to work with their treatment team in order to develop a personalized program fit to their individual needs and recovery goals. Though these clients may be able to participate in group and individual therapies, they may be referred to a different drug or alcohol treatment facility following the withdrawal period where the client can continue the recovery process.

COMTREA is a community health facility with many different locations around Missouri. This particular location offers treatments for substance use, mental health conditions, and they offer a wide variety of psychiatric care. The main component of care through this facility really relies on community support and sober activities. Programs are comprehensive and clients work with their team to determine which therapies will be most effective. The goal is to combine evidence-based programs with other activities in order to address all aspects of the person so that they are able to take the skills and habits learned during treatment and use them after their program has ended to maintain a sober and healthy lifestyle.

This specific location of Aviary Recovery Center offers intensive outpatient treatment options to men and women who need to fit drug abuse and alcohol addiction treatment around their other responsibilities, such as school, work, or children. The main therapies consist of individual sessions with an assigned clinician as well as a set number of group therapy sessions each week. These groups discuss life skills, communication skills, healthy relationships, relapse prevention, addiction education, and 12-step programs. Clients are able to play an active role in the development of their program and can use these skills for long-term recovery.

One of the main methods of treating substance abuse disorders through Alternative Behavioral Care includes medication-assisted treatment to address cravings, pain, and any withdrawal symptoms one might be experiencing from opioid or alcohol abuse. Other services include psychoeducational groups, individual therapy, coping skill development, and anger management. Alternative Behavioral Care works with teens and adults in age-specific programs to ensure the most specific and effective care. Adolescent clients will participate in group and individual therapy. They may be able to use Suboxone, but this is decided by the clinician, parents, and clients after evaluations and exams. Adult clients will be able to utilize a variety of different medications as well as relapse prevention planning and various types of therapy to address the client as a whole. Alternative Behavioral Care also provides a gender-specific program for women suffering from drug abuse.

Centrec Care offers treatments that address addiction, mental health, and the overall wellness of the client. Services include individual therapy, psychoeducation groups, medication management, medication assistance, and so much more. Because so many different programs and services are offered, clients are able to work with their treatment team to decide which options will be most effective in treating their specific conditions. Throughout the process, these programs may need to be modified as the client’s needs and goals change. In general, however, this facility relies heavily on the “Steps On The Journey to Wellness” which incorporates 12 steps into the client’s program. These steps look like: Introduction, Total Health, Emotions, Genetics, Strategy, Body and Mind, Brain, Personality, Lifestyle, Coping, Growth, and Conclusion. Clients will walk through each step, learning about themselves and their addiction and how to change the outcome of their disease.

Veterans seeking help for addiction and mental health conditions will have access to medication management, individual therapy, group programs, psychoeducation, various support groups, and family therapy. Clients are encouraged to play an active role in the decision-making process when it comes to designing their specific program so that it meets all of their needs and recovery goals. If the person seeking help needs inpatient treatment or more intensive types of care, they may be referred to a different treatment center so that they can be connected to addiction treatment providers that are better able to meet their needs.

This location of Compass Health offers outpatient behavioral health and substance abuse treatment services to adults and adolescents. Clients also have access to other medical healthcare services through the same facility if needed. All treatment options work together to address the psychological, environmental, social, and spiritual aspects of each client. The goal is to treat the person as a whole in order to equip them with coping skills and relapse prevention techniques that can maintain sobriety long-term. Each client will complete an extensive and comprehensive evaluation to help their clinician get a better idea of what needs to be treated and how to best treat it. Then, the client will work with them to design an individualized and personalized program. Some available services might include medication assistance, various forms of therapy in different settings, education, and support groups.

The drug and alcohol program through Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital is known as their medical stabilization unit. They work specifically with clients who are experiencing withdrawal from drugs or alcohol and need immediate care in order to stabilize. Then, the client may be referred to a different program for longer-term care. At this specific facility, clients will have access to an assessment, medical stabilization, and discharge planning. Medication assistance is used to help clients through those withdrawal symptoms, and while the normal length of stay typically only lasts between 3 and 7 days, each person will be referred to a different treatment facility so that they may receive comprehensive and longer-term addiction treatment.

CenterPointe offers both inpatient and outpatient services at several locations across Missouri. Available treatment options include 24-hour supervision, individual therapy, group therapy, medication management, nutritional guidance, activity therapies, family education, cognitive behavioral therapy, life skills training, crisis stabilization, various expressive therapies, relapse prevention, and role play. Group sessions will discuss topics like anger management, healthy relationships, communication skills, healthy decision making, and coping skill development. Clients also have access to evidence-based programs like medication-assisted treatment, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational enhancement therapy, electroconvulsive therapy, and transcranial magnetic stimulation. Clinicians work with their specific clients to decide which combination of evidence-based therapies and more holistic or supplemental treatments will be most effective in addressing their specific addictions.
