AMFM (A Mission for Michael) – California

A Mission For Michael is Different.

We believe in going beyond traditional mental health care by offering a more personal, deeply compassionate healing experience. Nestled in beautiful residential homes, our dedicated clinical team provides 24/7 care in a safe and supportive boutique setting with 6-8 clients per home. Our comprehensive clinical programming blends individual and group therapy with experiential therapies such as art, music, and equine therapy. In addition to psychological evaluations, we prioritize getting to know each client’s life story and personal history. This insight into their lived experience helps us craft a treatment plan that is as unique as they are, ensuring we address not just their symptoms but the root causes of their struggles.

We are tenacious in making sure every client feels seen, heard, and cared for, with their well-being serving as our true north. A Mission for Michael’s long-standing presence in the mental healthcare field and our well-earned reputation for excellence gives families confidence that their loved one is in trusted, credible hands. Our history reflects our deep commitment to quality care and consistent, positive outcomes.

Individualized, Evidence-based Care

AMFM’s evidence-based, compassionate approach addresses the root causes of mental health concerns, complemented by medication when necessary. Licensed practitioners use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and more. Uniquely, they offer transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Clients receive a weekly individual session with a psychiatric provider and twice weekly individual therapy sessions with a counselor. Embracing a whole-person approach to healing, AMFM provides a diverse array of therapeutic modalities, including somatic experiencing, psychodrama, art therapy, yoga, and expressive arts therapy.

Residential Homes

At AMFM, our warm and inviting homes are integral to the treatment process, designed to support a holistic wellness approach for healing with around-the-clock care. A safe and structured environment is necessary for the healing journey and provides stability for individuals to develop tools and coping strategies for lasting well-being. Maintaining a dedicated clinical staff to a small population in each of our residences produces a deeply personal experience for each of our clients.

Aftercare Planning

The discharge planning process at A Mission for Michael begins in the first week of admission, underscoring its significance for long-term healing. The clinical team meticulously tailors an aftercare plan for each client, addressing their unique needs with arrangements for outpatient programming, local therapy, and access to supportive housing. Additionally, clients benefit from in-person and virtual group therapy, alumni events, and support for workforce reintegration. This comprehensive approach offers a seamless transition and sustained recovery.

AMFM really helped turn my life around. Before going into their residential program I was at an all time low. AMFM helped bring me out of the rut I was in and also gave me some tools I could use when I finished with the program. I highly recommend this place. If you’re willing to put the work in, AMFM can truly change your life.

My family member is currently in treatment at AMFM and so far has really enjoyed their experience. They said clinicians are top-notch, the food is incredible (a chef cooks meals daily), the program is structured and efficient. We spoke about 10 days within their admission and they already felt the progress of healing, not to mention the tone of their voice was upbeat and promising. They are so grateful to be in the program and our family is grateful to AMFM for the compassion and dedication of their clinicians in helping my family member grow and heal.

About Our Helpline

LiveAnotherDay.org’s helpline is a private and convenient solution for individuals seeking treatment for addiction or mental illness.

Calls to our helpline (all non-facility specific 1-8XX numbers) will be answered by Recovery Advisors, American Addiction Centers, or one of our verified local treatment partners. Calls are routed based on geographic location.

Our helpline is offered at no cost to you and with no obligation to enter into treatment. In some cases, Live Another Day charges our verified partner a modest cost per call, which helps us cover the costs of building and maintaining our website. We do not receive any commission or fee that is dependent upon which treatment provider a visitor ultimately selects.

If our helpline is unable to assist you, we recommend browsing our state-by-state listings of the Best-Rated Rehab Centers, reading our resource guides, or visiting SAMHSA.gov.
