New York Presbyterian is a healthcare facility that does also offers a special psychiatry unit in order to address men and women in the community who may be struggling with mental illnesses as well as drug or alcohol addiction. Clients will have access to services such as group therapy, family therapy, electroconvulsive therapies, medication management, CBT, ego supportive psychotherapy, and recreational activities. The goal of these services is to provide immediate access to care as well as support the individual client during their entire recovery process. Clients are able to work with the same treatment team through detox, inpatient, and continuing care which allows them to connect and develop healthy, supportive relationships. Clients are also encouraged to include their family members throughout their time at New York Presbyterian. Along with those relationships, this facility also provides a long list of support groups and outpatient programs that give clients a safe space to visit during crisis situations or when they need continued support.

Upon admission, clients will be assigned to a clinician who will work with them throughout their recovery journey. Not only will the client work closely with their clinician and other members of their treatment team to design a customized plan, but they will develop close relationships and learn to trust other people.
