Belmont Comprehensive Treatment Center provides medication assistance to men and women over the age of 18 who have been addicted to heroin, prescription painkillers, and any other opioids. Most individuals who detox from these drugs will experience withdrawal symptoms. Because of the discomfort those symptoms cause, relapse is often the result. In order to prevent relapses or overdoses, clients are prescribed medications like methadone, Suboxone, Subutex, and Vivitrol. These medications can minimize or treat withdrawal symptoms, thus increasing a client’s motivation for change and ability to remain in a program that can then address any underlying or co-occurring disorders that may have led to substance abuse in the first place. Clients are also expected to participate in both group and individual therapies during this time, and they are encouraged to enroll in a rehab program following the completion of their MAT program.
